Hi, I’m Sarah

My yoga journey began when I first stepped onto my mat in 2003 and found my new home.  Yoga is the perfect merging of mindful movement and mindful breathing, the opposite of what I had learned in competitive sports.  Surrounded by healing, non-competitive energy, I found my life’s passion. I have trained and practiced with many different teachers who come from a variety of backgrounds.  I did my 200 hr training with Natasha Rizopolous at YogaWorks in 2010.  All of my classes have a strong focus on alignment and grounding.

In 2013, I became interested in Yoga Therapy and did a 300 hr training at the Yoga Life Institute .  Much of my Yoga Therapy training integrates with my teaching; with an emphasis on yogic philosophy, I teach my students that everything they need is already inside them.

Working one-on-one with Yoga Therapy clients led to my doula practice.  A client with anxiety and fertility issues worked with me for a few years before becoming pregnant.  She asked me to attend her birth to help manage her anxiety.  This incredible experience led me to get my doula certification from DONA International. I am perpetually inspired by teachers all over the world and draw on their knowledge and experience to inspire my own teachings. I’m so grateful for all the opportunities to have studied with so many gifted teachers over the last 16 years, and look forward to continuing to learn as my practice leads me wherever it may.

Empowered Birth

Birth is a life changing, amazing, full body experience.  Many women feel it happens TO them, and it doesn’t have to feel that way.  It happens because you can actively participate in the experience.  Learning to trust your body, and become educated about all of your options gives you the tools you need to make this the experience you’re envisioning. When I work with my clients, we work on building confidence in your ability to advocate for yourself and the birth you envision. We work together to envision your birth, and set realistic expectations of your experience. As someone who has given birth twice, neither birth went the way I imagined, but they were both perfect; and I was not disappointed because of the expectations I had set leading into the experience. Assembling your ideal support team is part of this process.  If we work together, we will create a loving, safe space for you to release your fears, and feel fully empowered by your birth experience!
